The County of San Mateo is planning demolition activities at 2700 Middlefield Road, located west of Pacific Avenue and north of Westmoreland Avenue, behind the Fair Oaks Health Center.

The work includes the demolition of:

  • One one-story warehouse building (approximately 33,600 square feet)
  • One one-story office building (approximately 7,500 square feet)
  • Three small storage buildings
  • Related concrete floors and ramps

The affected areas will then be covered with asphalt pavement. All activities shall be conducted in compliance with applicable ordinances and regulations.

Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Estimated Duration: January 2016 – April 2016

Safety: Traffic control at the intersection of Middlefield Road in front of the Fair Oaks Health Center will be in effect to allow equipment and trucks to safely enter and exit the property. Demolition activities may impact parking availability, traffic delays, noise levels, and dust due to construction work. We will do our best to minimize disruption.

Future Plans: This parcel will be redeveloped as part of a joint master planning effort between the County of San Mateo and Redwood City. Other nearby parcels under consideration for possible redevelopment are 2500, 2510 and 2600 Middlefield Road. Potential uses to be studied with robust community participation include plans to develop low-income affordable housing, a new library and community center, among other public facilities. The master planning effort will begin soon and will be called Middlefield Junction. We will be seeking community input in early to mid-2016 and hope that you will participate.
